My painting is an inward journey, an exploration or inner analysis of thoughts, feelings, concepts and beliefs.
It begins with a single color as if to make that first step into the unknown without any preconceived direction or road map. Perhaps it’s not the surest way to travel. But it’s the only way I can travel this journey - being led by the mind, the heart, the unconscious. Or whatever it is that drives one to explore that which means the most to oneself, that which is held most dearest, that which is beyond grasping.

As I paint I uncover my inner sanctuary and share it with you. Perhaps you recognize it as yourself. Perhaps your heart stirs also. Perhaps your mind questions. Perhaps like me, you also long to contemplate or even struggle with what it’s all about, wrestling with why we’re here, where we’re going, and if we’ve been on this path before.
Layers upon layers of paint are applied. Covering, half-covering, exposing, opening, obscuring, inviting, or blocking in an ongoing attempt to clarify what I believe and what I question.
Some call it abstract art, some call it life, some call it spirituality and some call it mere musings. I wish the labeling was so simple.
